This dulcimer solo is the melody to the popular Simon and Garfunkle rendition of a very old British folk ballad, "The Elfin Knight," found in Sir Francis Child's The English and Scottish Popular Ballads. It has been collected by a number of folklorists in Missouri and exists in several versions throughout the United States. |
